Alice Chenyang Xu

Alice Chenyang Xu, piano (Chengdu, China & Boston, MA), has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Germany, the US, Canada, and throughout China. Notable concerts include performances at Chicago’s Orchestra Hall, the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series at the Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago Auditorium Theatre, Corbett Auditorium in Cincinnati, Hochschule Musik Hall in Leipzig, Germany, and Jordan Hall in Boston. Xu has served on the jury for Tufts University Youth Philharmonic Orchestra Competition and was invited to give a lecture recital at The Consulate General of the United States, Chengdu in December 2019. Xu is on the artist-faculty at the InterHarmony International Music Festival in Italy. Xu was a recipient of the Dorothy Hinton-Congleton Memorial Presidential Scholarship, second prize-winner of the 10th Missouri Southern International Piano Competition, third prize-winner of the 2nd SEILER International Piano Competition in Germany, and the recipient of a Yamaha Scholarship. She is a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at New England Conservatory of Music. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music and Roosevelt University and a Master’s degree from New England Conservatory. Her principal teachers include Vivian Hornik Weilerstein, Wha-Kyung Byun, Russell Sherman, Meng-Chieh Liu, Winston Choi and Seymour Lipkin. Previous Yellow Barn musician (2018, 2019)
