Alice Chenyang Xu

Alice Chenyang Xu, piano (Chengdu, China), has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Germany, the US, Canada, and throughout China. Her notable concerts include performances at Chicago’s Orchestra Hall, the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series at the Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago Auditorium Theatre, Corbett Auditorium in Cincinnati, Hochschule Musik Hall in Leipzig, Germany, and Jordan Hall. Alice is a piano instructor at Tufts University and the coordinator for Piano for Non-Majors at New England Conservatory. Alice has served on the jury for the Tufts University Youth Philharmonic Orchestra Competition and was invited to give a lecture recital at the Consulate General of the United States, Chengdu. She played for former Secretary of State Colin Powell under the auspices of the Eisenhower Fellowships at the Northeast Asia Regional Program Seminar. She coached with composer George Crumb on his piano work “Makrokosmos”. Alice graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music and Roosevelt University, and is currently a D.M.A. candidate at New England Conservatory of Music. Her teachers include Vivian Weilerstein, Seth Knopp, Wha-Kyung Byun, Russell Sherman, Meng-Chieh Liu, Winston Choi, and Seymour Lipkin. Previous Yellow Barn musician (2018, 2019, 2021)
