Charlotte Spruit

Charlotte Spruit, violin (London, UK), studied with Coosje Wijzenbeek and David Takeno, and she is currently pursuing her B.M. degree with Ying Xue at the Royal Academy of Music. Charlotte has been a prize-winner of the Kloster Schöntal Violin Competition, Concours International Arthur Grumiaux, and the Oskar Back Violin Competition, amongst others. In 2020, she received the Anton Kersjes Violin Prize. Charlotte has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Residentie Orchestra The Hague, and Ensemble Esperanza. As a chamber musician, Charlotte has performed chamber works at many prominent locations, such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. As a founder member of the Carsaig Quartet, Charlotte has performed in the Mendelssohn on Mull Festival alongside the Doric String Quartet. She also regularly performs in other chamber music festivals, amongst others the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht where she performed with Janine Jansen, and the VP Bank Festival in Bad Ragaz. Charlotte also plays with Collegium, an exciting new group set up by violist Lawrence Power. As the principal of the second violins of the award-winning Ensemble Esperanza, she has performed across Europe and recorded several cd’s.
