Ian Maloney

Ian Maloney, cello (Hackensack, NJ), began his studies with Madeleine Golz at the Thurnauer School of Music and later at Manhattan School of Music (MSM) Precollege where he was a first-place winner of MSM’s Concerto Competition and Chamber Music Competition. In 2020, he was accepted into the studio of Joel Krosnick at The Juilliard School where he is currently pursuing his B.M. He has been featured on WQXR’s Young Artists Showcase, NPR’s From the Top, and in music videos with Brooklyn’s Project Trio and violinist Joshua Bell. He has performed in master classes for Carter Brey, Philippe Muller, Paul Katz, David Finckel, Bonnie Hampton, and Colin Carr. A National YoungArts Winner, Ian has earned first prize in numerous music competitions including the Camerata Artists International Competition, the Adelphi Orchestra Concerto Competition, the Vivo International Music Competition, and the Lyra Music Youth Competition. He has appeared as soloist with the New York Chamber Players, the Mid-Atlantic Chamber Orchestra, the Manhattan String Players, Ensemble 212, 92Y and Camerata New Jersey Orchestras. Ian has attended Music@Menlo Chamber Institute and Festival and Greenwood Music Camp. He also plays the piano, trumpet, and baritone horn. Previous Young Artists Program participant (2019, 2020)
