Nupur Thakkar

Nupur Thakkar, percussion (Schaumburg, IL), is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, where she studies with Ji Hye Jung and Lee Vinson. During her time at Blair, she has been a member of the Vanderbilt Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Contemporary Music Ensemble, and the Vanderbilt Percussion Group. She gave the premiere performance of “Scorpion Zikr” by Forrest Pierce, and performed alongside Ji Hye Jung and Kivie Cahn-Lipmann. Before Vanderbilt, she attended the Interlochen Arts Academy and studied with Kieth Aleo. Nupur has attended the Cortona Sessions for New Music, Sandbox Percussion Seminar, Northwestern Percussion Symposium, and spent a few months in India studying tabla with Guruji Narendra Gangani.
