Oriana Hawley

Oriana Hawley, viola (New York, NY), is a freshman at Columbia University’s Columbia College, and plans to continue studying there for the 2022-2023 academic year. Oriana has spent her life participating in multiple musical groups/programs such as Yellow Barn Young Artists Program, Face The Music NYC (working now as a mentor and performer alongside program participants), Greenwood Music Camp, and Omaha Area Youth Orchestras, and has organized solo and chamber music concerts around NYC. Since 2018, Oriana has performed in Merkin Hall and at the Kaufman Center, as well as at Roulette Intermedium and National Sawdust. During the COVID-19 2020-2021 quarantine, Oriana participated in many virtual and in-person projects, such as composer Lisa Bielawa’s works Broadcast From Home, premiere album Blueprints I, Guggenheim Museum’s Works & Process, Voter’s Broadcast, and Kaufman Center’s Storefront Concerts, and playing music with neighbors from balconies. Oriana has also performed in interdisciplinary projects, including The Afield’s X-Agent: Destroy Monster Regimes at Residency Unlimited in Brooklyn, and a composed project with peers called Nowhere Land (shown at Teens Take the MET). Oriana founded/edited an online literary/arts magazine called Gold Graffiti Quarantine (2020-2021). Oriana also enjoys writing poetry, singing, being outside, and eating good food. Previous Young Artists Program musician (2021)
