Sarah Rommel

Sarah Rommel, cello (Philadelphia, PA), is a top prize-winner of the 2014 George Enescu International Cello Competition in Romania and is the recipient of a Williamson Foundation Grant, Frank Huntington Beebe Fund Grant, and Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. Sarah has participated in the Piatigorsky Cello Festival, Academie Musicale de Villecroze, and IMS Prussia Cove, and has worked with David Geringas, Gary Hoffman, and Frans Helmerson. She has given festival performances at Music from Angel Fire, Music in May Festival, Santa Cruz Chamber Players, Chamber Music Palisades, and Chamber Music Sedona, as well as Caramoor’s Evnin Rising Stars Series, Chamber Music New Zealand, Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute, and Marlboro Music. Sarah has collaborated with composers John Adams, Sofia Gubaidulina, Jennifer Higdon, and Kaija Saariaho, pianist Jonathan Biss, violinists Lucy Chapman, Pamela Frank, Joseph Lin and Scott St. John, and violists Atar Arad, Kim Kashkashian, and Nobuko Imai. Sarah is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and the USC Thornton School of Music, where she studied with Peter Wiley and Ralph Kirshbaum respectively.
