Starla Breshears

Starla Breshears, cello (San Pablo, CA) began cello lessons with Yoshie Muratani and started studying with Jean-Michel Fonteneau at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music pre-college. Starla has soloed with 12 different orchestras and won numerous solo competitions, including the Parnassus-San Francisco Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition, the ASTA State Competition, the Palo Alto Philharmonic Concerto Competition, the California Youth Symphony Young Artists Competition, the U.S. Music Competition, the U.S. Open Music Competition, the Livermore-Amador Symphony Concerto Competition, the CAPMT-Sacramento Competition, the DVS-HNU Strings Competition, and the Pacific Musical Society & Foundation Competition. Starla’s sibling string quartet, the Breshears Quartet, recently won 1st Prize in the Piero Farulli International Competition for Young String Quartets.
