Willa Hawthorne

Willa Hawthorne, composition (Los Angeles, CA) is currently pursuing degrees in Music and Urban Studies at Yale University. Willa previously studied composition with Reena Esmail and was a fellow in the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Composer Fellowship Program, studying with Andrew Norman, Sarah Gibson, and Thomas Kotcheff. She has participated in Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s Young Artist Composition Program, has appeared on NPR’s “From the Top,” and is a YoungArts winner. Willa has had works premiered by members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, members of the Yale Undergraduate Chamber Orchestra, and ensembles including Sandbox Percussion, California State University Fullerton’s Percussion Ensemble, and the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus. In addition to composing, Willa sings with the Yale Glee Club, hosts her own radio show, and enjoys exploring art and architecture. Previous Young Artists Program participant (2022)
