Carla Kihlstedt

Carla Khilstedt, violin, voice, and composition (Dennis, MA), has studied at the Peabody Institute, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Her projects include Rabbit Rabbit, Tin Hat, 2 Foot Yard, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Causing a Tiger, The Book of Knots, Fred Frith’s Cosa Brava, Minamo, and Necessary Monsters. Other ensembles she has written for include the San Francisco Girls Chorus, The International Contemporary Ensemble, The ROVA Saxophone Quartet and The Bang On A Can All-Stars. In addition, she has composed music for dancers, including Jo Kreiter’s Flyaway Productions, Joe Good Performance Group, inkBoat.

In February 2012, Carla founded Rabbit Rabbit with her husband (and former Sleepytime Gorilla Museum drummer) Matthias Bossi. Rabbit Rabbit released their debut album, Rabbit Rabbit Radio – Vol. 1 in 2013. The band revolves around a song-a-month subscription website called Rabbit Rabbit Radio.
