Dylan Tyree

Dylan Tyree, composition (Denver, CO), is currently pursuing a B.M. in cello performance and composition at the University of Denver, where he studies with Matthew Zalkind and Sean Friar. As a soloist, Dylan has been invited by various ensembles to perform works including Korngold’s Cello Concerto, Schnittke’s Triple Concerto, Vivaldi’s Double Concerto in G Minor for Two Cellos, and Herbert’s Cello Concerto No. 2 in E Minor. With a great interest in alternative styles, Dylan regularly performs with his rock/jazz cello-piano duo, Duality. Active as a composer and arranger, Dylan has received top prizes in various competitions including Michael Giacchino’s War for the Planet of the Apes Orchestration Competition in 2017 and most recently the 2021 ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Awards. In 2019, Dylan was commissioned by the director of the Denver School of the Arts to arrange the B side of The Beatles album “Abbey Road” for string orchestra, harp, and percussion. In 2020, Dylan co-founded the organization Classical Swing, which promotes equity in music and a variety of musical styles by offering non-traditional programs to the public free of charge.
