Madelyn Kowalski

Madelyn Kowalski, cello, (Marrowstone Island, WA), is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), where she has studied with Alison Wells since 2016. She completed her BMus degree in 2020 and will complete her masters in June as a recipient of an ABRSM International Postgraduate Scholarship. Last year, she was awarded the Musicians’ Company Silver Medal, and in 2018 received second prize in the Concours International de Violoncelle ‘Tremplin’ in Paris. In 2019, as part of a small ensemble, she premiered a work written and conducted by Sir James MacMillan in the presence of HRH Prince Charles for his 70th birthday, and last year, she gave the Scottish premiere of Errollyn Wallen's cello concerto with the RCS orchestra. Madelyn has performed many recitals with her duo, including a broadcast recital for BBC Radio 3 and several tours for Chamber Music Scotland. She has collaborated in chamber music projects with members of the Brodsky Quartet and the Hebrides Ensemble, and has attended festivals including IMS Prussia Cove and Open Chamber Music in the UK, and Yellow Barn and Kneisel Hall chamber music festivals in the USA.
