Travis Laplante's hour-long saxophone quartet "Palace of Wind", with improvisatory pieces by Young Artists Program musicians
Led by Travis Laplante, this genre-bending saxophone quartet (which also includes Matthew Nelson, Jeremy Viner, and Patrick Breiner) performs Laplante's Palace of Wind, a work that draws extraordinary energy from contemporary classical, avant-garde jazz, black metal, ambient, and world music, creating a portal of resonance where there is no separation between the listener and the sound.
The evening will begin with performances by Young Artists Program instrumentalists, using techniques taught by Travis Laplante and melodies written by YAP composers as the building blocks of improvisatory works.
