Past event (2015)
This project expands the concept of the clarinet and piano recital by taking simple songs from folk and improvisation-based traditions and re-imagining them for clarinet, piano, and electronics.
Creating something orchestral in scope, David Krakauer and Kathleen Tagg will draw upon a rich variety of source material, including South African and klezmer traditions, "tunes" from Syrian clarinetist Kinan Azmeh, and “downtown” contemporary music from New York composer John Zorn, as well as original compositions by Krakauer and Tagg born out of their exposure to a multitude of cultures and traditions.
