Cellist Alice Yoo has performed extensively throughout the United States and abroad as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician, performing in prestigious venues such as New York’s Weill Hall, Boston’s Jordan Hall, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

A passionate chamber musician, Alice has collaborated with the world’s most distinguished artists including Itzhak Perlman, Donald Weilerstein, Pamela Frank, Atar Arad, Miriam Fried, Midori Goto, Ana Chumachenko, and Anthony Marwood, at esteemed festivals including Ravinia Festival’s Steans Institute for Young Artists, Music@Menlo, Yellow Barn, Caramoor Rising Stars, IMS Prussia Cove, the Perlman Music Program, and the Banff Centre for the Performing Arts.

Alice has won top prizes in the Cleveland Cello Society Competition, Holland-America Music Society Competition, Schadt International String Competition, Klein International String Competition, and the National Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition.

She is currently a member of the U-HAC Chamber Players and the Caramoor Virtuosi. As an orchestral player, she has performed with the Halle Orchestra of Manchester, England and is currently Associate Principal Cello of Symphony in C for the 2011–2012 season.

A native of Bozeman, Montana, Alice earned a Bachelor of Music Degree from New England Conservatory, studying with Paul Katz. She received a Post-Graduate Diploma from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, studying with Ralph Kirshbaum. Alice’s other teachers include Dr. Ilse‑Mari Lee and Richard Aaron. Alice recently received her Masters Degree from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music and currently resides in New York City. Past Yellow Barn musician (2007-2009)
