Cara Pogossian, viola (Glendale, CA), is a sophomore at Crescenta Valley High School. Cara is currently principal violist of the Colburn Youth Orchestra and has performed with various Colburn ensembles at Zipper Hall and Bing Theater at LACMA. Every summer, she attends the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in New Hampshire and often performs at Children’s concerts of the Sebago Long Lake Chamber Music Festival in Maine. Cara won 1st prizes at ASTA California Regional, Sectional, and State competitions as a violist, and also 3rd Prize at Regional ASTA competition as a violinist. She loves playing chamber music with her family and friends, including clarinetists Michele Zukovsky and Phil O’Connor, violist Laurie Kennedy, cellists Eliot Bailen and Eddie Pogossian, pianist Stephen Manes, and flutist Susie Rotholz. Cara studies viola with her parents and has also received instruction from Elizabeth Wilson, John Hayhurst, and Helen Callus.
