Daniel Wang, piano (Simi Valley, CA) began playing piano at the age of five and currently attends the Colburn Music Academy, where he studies with Micah Yui. A top scholarship recipient of the National Chopin Foundation Scholarship, Daniel is also a top-prize winner of the Valencia International Piano Festival Competition, Los Angeles International Piano Competition, Sound Espressivo Global Competition, Music Center Spotlight Competition and has won statewide 1st prizes at the Music Teachers’ National Association and Music Teachers’ Association of California Solo and Concerto Competitions. Furthermore, he was hand-picked by renowned pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet to perform Mozart’s Triple Concerto with him at the 2022 Colburn Gala. He is also the pianist of the Olive Trio, coached by Clive Greensmith, Fabio Bidini, and Martin Beaver. The Olive Trio is the Gold Medalist of the 2022 Fischoff National Chamber Competition and 1st Grand Prize winner of the 2022 Chicago International Piano Competition. The Olive Trio has played in numerous venues throughout Los Angeles and beyond, like the Los Angeles Chamber Music Box LA and First@Third Concert Series, and NPR’s “From the Top” Show. Next year, Daniel will be attending Yale University.
