Gwen Krosnick, cello (Brookline, MA), is a founding member of Trio Cleonice, formed in 2008, and most recently the Graduate Piano Trio-in-Residence at New England Conservatory (2011-2014). As a member of Trio Cleonice, Gwen has performed concerts across the United States, including a recent debut at the Kennedy Center and annual concerts in Jordan Hall; in addition to a busy U.S. touring schedule, the group will make its European debut next season, including a concert at the Concertgebouw. With the Trio, Gwen helped to begin a new chamber music series, Trio Cleonice and Friends, in Brookline, in spring 2014, and has given masterclasses at Oberlin Conservatory, New England Conservatory's Preparatory Division, and Husson College. Gwen has premiered works written for her by Richard Wernick and Ralph Shapey. Gwen studied at Oberlin College and Conservatory, where she received a Bachelor of Music Degree as a cello student of Darrett Adkins in addition to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian Language and Literature. She most recently studied with Natasha Brofsky at New England Conservatory, where she received a Master’s degree. Gwen spent five summers at Kneisel Hall and four years at Greenwood Music Camp. In addition to her recent summers at Yellow Barn, Gwen has participated in the Mannes Beethoven Institute, the Birdfoot Festival, the St. Lawrence Quartet Seminar, the Banff Centre Chamber Music Residency, and Open Chamber Music at Prussia Cove.
