
Helena Montag, flute (Berlin, Germany) began her musical studies singing in the children's choir of the Komische Oper Berlin. She began studying the flute with Ulrike Phillippi and later became a student at the Julius-Stern Institut from the Universität der Künste in Berlin, under the instruction of Christiane Hellmann. While at the Institut, she performed in benefit concerts and completed a project with the Kammerakademie Potsdam at the Crescendo Music Festival. Helena has been a member of the Canisius-Kolleg Chamber Orchestra, the Berlin Youth Orchestra, the German Youth Orchestra, and has worked with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist she played with the Canisius-Kolleg Orchestra, including a tour in Japan. She has participated in masterclasses with Prof. Hansgeorg Schmeiser, Michel Moragues, Ulf-Dieter Schaaff, the Ensemble Modern, and Jelka Weber. Helena won first prize in the German youth competition Jugend Musiziert in the flute solo, flute duo, and flute duo with piano categories; her prize was a recording with radio Berlin-Brandenburg. She currently studies with Marina Piccinini at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover.
