Jordan Katz, percussion (Duluth, GA), currently attends the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, where he studies with Professors Ji Hye Jung and Lee Vinson. He was a member of several honor ensembles in the Atlanta Metro area, including the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony and the Atlanta Youth Percussion Ensemble. He has been a member of many of Blair’s performing ensembles, including the Vanderbilt Wind Symphony, Vanderbilt Orchestra and the Opera program. Additionally, his participation in VPG, the Vanderbilt Percussion Group, recently culminated in a showcase concert at the Seoul National University in South Korea. His recent competitive success has included a 2nd place win in the Percussive Arts Society Collegiate Snare Drum Competition, as well as selection for a masterclass with renowned composer Ivan Trevino. Apart from his dedication to music, Jordan also has a deep interest in law and debate. He competed in Mock Trial for all 4 years of high school and is now a member of the same program at the collegiate level. In his free time, Jordan is an avid tennis player, reader and hiker.
