
Katherine Yoon, violin (Ilsan, South Korean) has performed in international concert venues including Musikverein Vienna, Konzerthaus Berlin, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Victoria Hall Singapore, Wigmore Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, DR Koncerthuset, and Bozar Brussels. She has made festival appearances at the Heidelberger Frühling, Mozarteum Salzburg and Gstaad Menuhin Festival. Katherine has recorded at the Abbey Road Studios and at the Teldex Berlin for Naxos Records with the LGT Young Soloists. As a concertmaster, she has worked closely with conductors such as Sakari Oramo, Juanjo Mena and Vasily Petrenko. Formed at the Seiji Ozawa Academy in 2019, Katherine is a member of the Kleio Quartet. They were awarded the First Prize and the Commission Prize at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition in April 2023. She receives chamber music coaching and mentorship from John Myerscough and Eckart Runge. Katherine studied with Akiko Ono at the Yehudi Menuhin School for six years. Then she went on to pursue her BMus degree with First Class Honours at the Royal College of Music in London with Itzhak Rashkovsky. She recently graduated from the RCM with an MMus degree as an ABRSM Scholar. Katherine currently plays on a Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume violin on loan from the RCM.
