Katya Moeller

Katya Moeller, violin (Iowa City, IA) played her first solo recital at six and made her orchestra debut when she was twelve. She was recently named the First Prize Winner of the World Bach Competition, the ODIN International Music Competition, and the 1st World Violin E-Competition Napolinova. She was Grand Prize Winner of the ENKOR International Violin Competition, and Second Prize Winner of the Togliatti International Violin Competition and 1st Harmonium OnlinePlus International Music Competition. Nationally, she won the American Opera Society of Chicago Scholarship Award, Grand Prize at the Walgreens National Concerto Competition, and First Prize in the Musicians Club of Women-Chicago. Katya has appeared on Chicago’s classical music station, WFMT 98.7, and Iowa Public Radio’s Classical Music station. As a member of the Avita Duo, she has performed in Brazil, Thailand, Singapore, and the USA. The Duo released their first recording of Lera Auerbach’s 24 Preludes for Violin and Piano and the world-premiere of Oskolki on the Hänssler Classic label to enthusiastic critical acclaim. Katya is a violin student of Masao Kawasaki, pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance at the Juilliard School. She previously studied with professor Almita Vamos and was a fellowship member of the prestigious Music Institute of Chicago Academy.
