Madelyn Kowalski, cello (Marrowstone Island, WA) holds her B.M. and M.M. degrees from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she studied with Alison Wells. An award-winning soloist and chamber musician, she has performed recitals and at festivals internationally. Recently, she was invited by Steven Isserlis to give a recital at the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad where her performance with pianist Anna Han received the André Hoffmann prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned work. While in Scotland, she performed several concerts with orchestras and gave duo recitals for BBC Radio 3 and Chamber Music Scotland with pianist Maurizio Arroyo Reyes. Madelyn is a 2023 fellowship recipient of the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance and has attended chamber music festivals including IMS Prussia Cove, Open Chamber Music, Birdfoot, and Kneisel Hall. She has worked with musicians including Steven Isserlis, Kim Kashkashian, David Waterman, Ralph Kirshbaum, and Jean-Guihen Queyras, among others. Madelyn is an ABRSM International Postgraduate Scholarship recipient and was awarded the 2021 Musicians' Company silver medal. Previous Yellow Barn musician (2021, 2022)
