Orion Kim, piano (Saint Paul, MN), studies with Claudia Chen of Macalester College and Wei-Yi Yang of Yale University. He has performed with numerous orchestras in the Twin Cities area, including the Mississippi Valley Orchestra, the Kenwood Symphony Orchestra, the Dakota Valley Symphony, the Golden Valley Orchestra, and the University of Minnesota Chamber Orchestra. Most recently, he won first prize in the Schubert Club Student Scholarship Competition and the Thursday Musical Competition in the high school division. Orion was also recognized as a finalist on "From the Top" and has participated in other summer music programs such as Music@Menlo and the Bowdoin International Music Festival. Set to enroll at Yale University next year, Orion plans to pursue a major in Ethics, Politics, and Economics while continuing to study piano performance. Aside from his passion for music, Orion is also a serious journalist and soccer player. In his free time he enjoys going on long walks and spending time in nature.
