Rose Hashimoto, viola (Seattle, Washington), was a long-time resident of New York City where she completed her studies at Juilliard (BM) and Mannes College of Music (MM, Professional Studies Diploma). As a winner of the Mannes concerto competition, she performed the Schnittke Viola Concerto with the Mannes Orchestra. She was also the recipient of the George and Elizabeth Gregory Award for Excellence in Performance from Mannes in 2012. Rose has participated in festivals around the world including the International Musicians Seminar at Prussia Cove, Lucerne Festival Academy, Taos School of Music, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, Perlman Music Program, St. Lawrence String Quartet Seminar, and Mannes Beethoven Institute. She has performed in master classes with Kim Kashkashian, Thomas Riebl, Marcus Thompson, and Lars Anders Tomter. Her primary teachers have been Toby Appel, Hsin-Yun Huang, and Laurie Smukler.
