Yitong Guo

Yitong Guo, viola (Lanzhou, China), has performed at the Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg, Lincoln Center, Canada’s National Arts Centre, and Beijing’s National Centre for the Performing Arts, and has performed solo works for the Royal Family of the Netherlands, including King Willem-Alexander and the former Queen Beatrix. Yitong has collaborated with the Hagen Quartet, American String Quartet, Kurt Sassmannshaus, and Rohan De Silva. He has attended IMS Prussia Cove, the Ravinia Festival, and the Lucerne Festival. Yitong has played in masterclasses for Nobuko Imai, Kim Kashkashian, Antoine Tamestit, Roberto Díaz, and Veronika Hagen. Yitong won the Silver Medal at the 44th Hudson Valley Philharmonic International String Competition and First Prize at the 8th Great Wall Competition. After attending the Preparatory School of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, Yitong earned his BM on full scholarship from the Manhattan School of Music. Yitong is currently pursuing his MA at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with Thomas Riebl, and will begin studying for his AD at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin next year. Yitong is playing on a viola made by Bernd Hiller, which is on a generous loan from Thomas Riebl.
