Yoon Jung Yang, violin (Seoul, Korea), has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Bulgaria, China, Germany, Japan, Korea, Norway, US, and the UK. Yoon Jung has studied chamber music with Claude Frank, Leon Fleisher, Frans Hermerson, Robert Levine, and Arnold Steinhardt and has collaborated with artists such as Atar Arad, Boris Berman, Natasha Brofsky, Timothy Eddy, Kim Kashkashian, Ralph Kirshbaum, Karl Leister, Seymour Lipkin, Anthony Marwood, Cynthia Phelps, Paula Robinson, and Roger Tapping. In addition to Yellow Barn, she has spent her summers at the Aspen, Festival MusicAlp, Kneisel Hall, Kontiki, Music Academy of the West, Ravinia, Summit, and Sarasota music festivals among others. Most recently, she has won the third prize at International Violin solo competition (2013) and Modern piece prize at Max Rostal Competition (2012). She has also won Grand Prizes at the Music Journal Competition, the Sejong Competition, as well as first prizes at the TBC Competition, Seoul Philharmonic Concerto Competition, the Ewha Kyung Hyang Competition, and a second prize from the Pusan Times Competition. Yoon Jung holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, where she was admitted at age 15. She received her Master of Music degree from New England Conservatory where she is a doctoral candidate. Currently, she is enrolled at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, where she is studying with Prof. Stephan Picard.
