Aaron Wolff, cello (New York, NY), is a New York City-based cellist and performer active in solo, collaborative, and cross-disciplinary capacities. Recent performances include a solo program of music by Philip Glass and Arthur Russell at the New York City Reliquary, collaboration with the Argus Quartet, and Bach Suites at Yellow Barn's 2020 summer residencies. During lockdown, he produced an international ZOOM marathon of Luciano Berio’s Sequenze. Aaron has also found creative outlets in acting – most notably in a lead role in the Coen brothers’ film A Serious Man – and in arranging and writing about music: he has provided string arrangements for Comedy Central’s Broad City and covered New York’s new music scene for the online journal I Care If You Listen. Passionate about teaching, Aaron is on the faculty of Virtu Academy and Circle Circle Arts, two youth-led teaching initiatives established in 2020. He has engaged communities through music education in Ohio, New York, Massachusetts, Chennai, Beijing, and Sao Paõlo. Aaron received a B.A. in comparative literature and B.M. in cello performance from Oberlin College & Conservatory, and an M.M. at Juilliard, where he was a Kovner Fellow studying under Joel Krosnick. He is now pursuing an Artist Diploma at Juilliard under Timothy Eddy and Fred Sherry. Previous Yellow Barn musician (2017, 2019)
