Emily Brandenburg, viola (Warwick, RI), holds a Master of Musical Arts degree from Yale University, where she studied with Ettore Causa, completed her Masters degree at New England Conservatory, studying with Martha Katz, and her Undergraduate degree at the McDuffie Center for Strings, studying with Lawrence Dutton and Rebecca Albers. Her early music studies began at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School (Providence, RI) where she took private lessons, played in youth orchestra and studied chamber music. Previously, she was an Artist-in-Residence at the University of Evansville (Evansville, IN) where she was also principal viola of the Evansville Philharmonic and violist of the Eykamp String Quartet. Emily currently holds a private teaching studio in Nashville, Tennessee teaching both violin and viola and freelances throughout the area. She plays with the Metropolis Ensemble in NYC, substitutes with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Phoenix Orchestra (Boston), Portland Symphony (Maine) and the Macon Pops. Starting in September, she will be based out of New York with her husband, clarinetist, Bixby Kennedy. Previous Yellow Barn musician (2017, 2018)
