Benjamin Davies Hudson, violin and viola (Madison, WI), is a junior majoring in Violin Performance (BM) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He currently studies violin with David Perry and viola with Sally Chisholm. Prior to his undergraduate studies, he studied with Janet Chisholm shortly after starting the violin at age seven. He is a recipient of the UW-Madison’s Tuition Remission Award for music. In 2018, Benjamin was a finalist in the Milwaukee Symphony’s Stars of Tomorrow Auditions and was given the opportunity to solo with the Milwaukee Symphony under the baton of Yaniv Dinur performing Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso. That same year, he was a winner of the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras’ Concerto Competition and performed as a soloist with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Andrew Sewell. In 2022, he was a winner of the UW-Madison Symphony Orchestra’s Concerto Competition. He performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the UW-Madison Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Oriol Sans in the fall of 2023. Benjamin has a passion for chamber music and loves to play inner voices. He is currently a member of the Perlman Piano Trio, a scholarship program funded by Kato Perlman. Through festivals and masterclasses, he has worked with Arnold Steinhardt, the Schumann Quartet, and the Isidore Quartet. Previous Young Artists Program participant (2023)
