
Alice Van Leuven, violin (Brussels, Belgium) has recently been appointed as the new first violinist of the Alfama Quartet. This season is marked by the release of the quartet’s new cd “so Far so Close,” including works by Mendelssohn and Schumann as well as the Belgian composer Patrick Leterme’s first string quartet. Alice is also a founding member of Trio Aries, which won the chamber music competition Supernova Classics in February 2020. The trio recently performed at the Klara Festival and had the honor to play the 2021 Spring Concert of the Royal Palace of Brussels. Their debut album “Awakening” was released in November 2021. Composer Frederik Neyrinck dedicated his piece "Echo de Cleves" for solo violin to Alice, which she premiered in Bozar (Brussels) in June 2020. Alice graduated from the Universität der Künste in Berlin where she studied in Mark Gothoni’s violin class and in the Artemis Quartet’s chamber music class. She received her bachelor’s degree at the “Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel” where she worked with Philippe Graffin.
