Edie Bresler (Somerville, MA) is an artist and educator with a multi-faceted practice whose projects examine the social underpinnings of American values. Most recently she is looking at communities through the lens of state lotteries. Edie is artist-in-residence at The Boston Center for the Arts, where she is creating an alternative economy based on photography, trust, and trade exchange. She has had solo exhibitions at the Griffin Museum, Visual Studies Workshop, and CEPA, along with numerous group exhibitions in the United States, Canada, and the Middle East. Her work has been featured on the PBS show Greater Boston with Emily Rooney and nationally on Lenscratch and Photo District News. A 2013 recipient of a Berkshire Taconic ART grant, Bresler also received a grant from the Somerville Arts Council and was a finalist in photography for the Massachusetts Cultural Council in 2011. She is the northeast correspondent for Photograph magazine, where she covers exhibitions and photo-related happenings in the greater Boston area. Bresler teaches photography and digital imaging at Simmons College in Boston. She received a BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts and her MFA from the Art Institute of Boston.
