Mari Yoshinaga, percussion (Kagoshima, Japan), studies orchestral percussion with Alan Abel, timpani and percussion with Don Liuzzi, marimba and chamber music with Robert Van Sice, latin percussion with Rolando Morales-Motos, and drum-set with Scott Robinson at the Curtis Institute. She is a member of the Curtis Percussion Group, which was selected to perform at the 2008 Percussive Arts Society International Convention and the Kimmel Center's Summer Solstice Celebration. As a member of the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, she has worked with renowned conductors such as Christoph Eschenbach, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Otto-Werner Mueller. She performs regularly with the Curtis Opera Orchestra and on the Curtis Student Recital Series. Mari participated at Norfolk Music Festival's New Music Workshop in 2010, and she won first prize in the 2006 Japan Junior Wind Instrument and Percussion Competition. She participated in the MBC Youth Orchestra and for six years she attended the Toyota Youth Orchestra Camp. As a timpanist, she participated the New York String Orchestra Seminar and performed at Carnegie Hall in December 2009.
