At the heart of Yellow Barn is the summer festival that David and Janet Wells began in 1969 in their home and attached yellow barn. Each year 36 young professional musicians, selected from 500 applicants from across the United States and abroad, gather to live, study, and perform along with an internationally renowned faculty, creating a necessary musical haven in the fertile learning ground of Putney, Vermont.
Today the spirit of Yellow Barn depends on a full scholarship program: every participant receives free tuition, room, and board. To make this possible we depend on you, our Yellow Barn family and friends. Together we share a poetic purpose, reveling in music-making—and making music live on. As one Yellow Barn musician said, “In this world, the impossible becomes possible and the beautiful becomes sublime!”
In lieu of the price of admission we encourage you to share your love of chamber music through your generosity. During the event there will be an opportunity to demonstrate your support with a gift or pledge. All proceeds will support of the Yellow Barn Scholarship Fund for young musicians.
