Wenhong Luo, viola (Beijing, China), began her studies of the viola in 2004 at Beijing’s Music School, attached to the Central Conservatory of Music, and for three years held the post of principal violist in the China Juvenile Orchestra. In 2006, Wenhong was awarded 1st place in the Central Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition, and two years later made her debut with the China Broadcast Orchestra. Wenhong won the Theodore Holland Viola Prize, was third prize winner in the Johannes Brahms International Competition, and was named a semi-finalist in the 11th Lionel Tertis Viola Competition. Wenhong holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from London’s Royal Academy of Music and is currently a graduate student at the New England Conservatory, where she studies with Kim Kashkashian.
