Amy Garapic, percussion (New York, NY), currently serves as percussionist with the emerging new music chamber orchestra Contemporaneous, and is a founding member of the both the percussion trio TIGUE and percussion quartet Saying Out LOUD. An avid supporter of new music and living composers, Amy has worked with closely with Jason Treuting, Robert Honstein, Baljinder Sekhon, Dan Deacon, and Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez, among others, in performing and commissioning new works for percussion. She has organized and participated in some of NYC's most memorable musical events including Make Music New York's Persephassa on the Lake, Inuksuit in Morningside Park, and Make Music Winter's Village in Volume, of which she was the director. Other performances have taken her abroad to Paris (France), Guanajuato (Mexico), and Amman (Jordan), and she is currently organizing a Musical Midnight Sun Festival in Piteå, Sweden to celebrate their twenty-four hours of daylight. Since graduating from The Eastman School of Music where she earned the prestigious Performer's Certificate, Amy is now Percussion Teaching Fellow at the Bard College Conservatory working alongside So Percussion to establish their first percussion studio. She also works as the Operations Coordinator for both the So Percussion Summer Institute and the Chosen Vale International Percussion Seminar, alongside Doug Perkins.
