Rainer Crosett, cello (Boston, MA), came to international attention as the recipient of the 2018 Pierre Fournier Award. He has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician on major stages in the United States and Europe, and has engagements with orchestras such as the Philharmonia Orchestra of London and the Houston Symphony. Highlights of past seasons include his Wigmore Hall solo recital debut and the premiere of Dániel Péter Biró's "Ethica" with the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart. Rainer also performs regularly at festivals such as Music@Menlo, Yellow Barn, the Piatigorsky International Cello Festival, La Jolla SummerFest, and the Perlman Music Program. He received his M.M. from New England Conservatory and his A.B. magna cum laude in Philosophy from Harvard College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and named a John Harvard Scholar. Also during his time at Harvard, he received an Artist Development Fellowship and the Thomas T. Hoopes Prize. Rainer went on to receive his Artist Diploma from the University of Southern California and is now continuing his graduate studies, with support from the Frank Huntington Beebe Fund, at the Berlin University of the Arts.
